Two groups of learners who meet at Bedford High School combined to visit Norton Priory near Runcorn. The sun shone and everyone found different things to enjoy at the site. Some enjoyed looking round the ruined abbey, trying to piece together what it must have looked like centuries ago. Others found the restored walled garden, full of fruit, vegetables and flowers, a fascinating spot to explore. (more...)
The indoor exhibition space, which explained nearly 1000 years of history, was brilliantly presented and was, for one learner, the first museum they had ever visited. Everyone agreed that the whole site, situated beside Bridgewater Canal, was wonderfully peacefully and chat on the WW minibus on the way home ranged from discussion about the history of the site to swapping recipes to use the damsons purchased in the garden.
